The long awaited film, "Hidalgo" opened in theaters on March 5th, 2004.
Among horse lovers and fans of Frank Hopkins, viewing the movie wasn't a
question, it was a given. For the most part, Lakhota and Arabic was
spoken in the movie, with subtitles translating for those who did not
understand. Lakhota.Com was referenced by Hidalgo, giving the site an
honor they had not expected. Hidalgo's screenwriter, John Fusco, adopted
friend of the Oglala-Lakota in Pine Ridge, has written many well loved
Native American films, such as Spirit: The Stallion of Cimarron and
Thunderheart. His latest movie, Hidalgo, is just as riveting and
heartwarming as the others - we at Lakhota.Com would like to thank the
crew of Hidalgo for making us a part of their great accomplishment. It is
our honor.
